Three products, not one footprint

The about page links fiber, wireless 5G and satellite as distinct internet offerings. The fiber page describes fiber plans and an address lookup. The wireless page describes a self-install router that uses nearby cellular towers and 5G and 4G networks, and it points readers at data-plan choices rather than a fiber speed tier. Satellite is linked as another option. Ordering one does not mean the others exist at the address.

EarthLink does not, on these pages, publish a Kinetic-style list of states for home fiber. Where a state cannot be cited, this guide does not name one.

Fiber is selective, even when a table says coverage is nationwide

The fiber page's comparison table includes a coverage row that says nationwide. The same page's FAQ says fiber is selectively available, typically in major cities and high-density communities, and less likely in smaller or rural communities. The offer footnote says the promotion is not available in all areas. When a table cell and a FAQ conflict, the FAQ and the footnote are the operational limits: look up the address. Do not quote the table cell as proof your town has fiber.

The footnote also says actual speeds may vary with distance, line quality, phone service provider and concurrent devices. That is a reason to read the qualified offer rather than a national speed menu. Installers, the fiber FAQ says, can be outside contractors who may also work with other companies. The retail brand on the agreement is still the document to read.

Wireless 5G and 4G home internet is not fiber

The fiber FAQ points to EarthLink 5G Home Internet as the service that does not need a cable drop: a router uses cellular signals, and the plan is chosen around data rather than a fiber speed. The wireless page repeats that this product uses towers, can be self-installed, and is aimed at a mix of cities, suburbs and rural areas where cellular service works. It also says that if wireless 5G cannot be provided at the home, EarthLink will look at other options. That sentence is an admission that wireless is not universal either.

Do not move a fiber 'no data cap' claim onto a wireless plan, or a wireless data plan onto a fiber order. The pages describe those terms differently.

• Decide whether you are asking about fiber, wireless home internet, or satellite.
• Use the matching EarthLink address or availability check.
• Save the product name before you compare speed or data.
• Ignore a nationwide coverage cell if the address tool says the product is unavailable.

How to check without a fake state map

Because these official pages do not name a state footprint the way Kinetic or WOW! do, the honest geographic statement is the one EarthLink wrote: fiber tends to be in denser places and is not everywhere; wireless depends on cellular service at the home; satellite is a third product. The FCC map can show reported fixed technologies at a location, including where a provider reported fiber or wireless. It is not EarthLink's checkout.

Promotional prices on the fiber page are time-limited and restricted. Do not treat a homepage rate as the rate at your address. Compare the qualified label, then decide.
