New Jersey is both an Optimum state and a Verizon Fios state. This page is only the Verizon side: what the Fios availability list says, and how not to confuse it with 5G Home or with Optimum.

New Jersey on the Fios list

Verizon's Fios section includes a New Jersey button. Near-me links on the availability page include Newark, Jersey City and Trenton. The surrounding copy describes Fios as fiber-optic internet in the mid-Atlantic and New England and points readers to an availability check. Those city links are examples of where Verizon talks about Fios, not a certificate for every address in those cities.

Speed tiers on the page are offered depending on where you live. Do not assume the 5 Gig tier exists because the New Jersey button exists.

Wireless home internet remains a second product

New Jersey is also in the 5G Home section of the same page. The FAQ says wireless home internet and Fios are what the address tool distinguishes, and that wireless coverage can change from one address to the next on a block. Home Internet Lite, LTE Home and Wi-Fi Backup are other wireless names there, not Fios tiers.

A retired-looking 'high speed internet' support path is not something this guide treats as a current third network. The products the current FAQ actually names are Fios on one side and the wireless home products on the other. Order the name on the label.

Check the New Jersey address in Verizon's availability tool.
If the result says Fios, use the Fios label and fiber install questions.
If the result says 5G Home or another wireless product, use the wireless terms.
Compare Optimum only if Optimum also qualifies at that unit.

Optimum in New Jersey is not Fios

Optimum, an Altice brand, publishes New Jersey and says portions of the state can get Optimum fiber while other addresses get cable. That is Optimum's network. A building that can order Optimum cable cannot be described as having Fios.

FCC reported availability may list more than one provider at the location. The report is not either company's appointment.

Keep the New Jersey claim small enough

Verizon publishes New Jersey Fios metros and New Jersey 5G Home locations. Your home is whatever the address tool returns. City links for Newark, Jersey City and Trenton do not extend Fios to every New Jersey municipality that was left off the examples.
